Glade Creek,WV 04-17-07
With over two inches of rain on Saturday, this last week has been like Christmas down here in West Virginia. On Sunday all of the standard runs were blown out so I had a chance to get on the Chesnut Knob Fork of Laurel Creek. This is a cool little creek right off of Rt. 41; there aren't any huge drops, it is just very continuous for a mile. Monday morning I spent outfitting my new large Burn, afterwards I headed over to Glade Creek in Beckley with John Moore and team member Shawn McClung for a late afternoon run at an awesome medium high level. Today some of the boys from IQ Media and I went back over to Glade Creek for a medium low run. Glade is a ultra classic creek that has everything from slides to boulder rapids to big ledges; it also has some of the best water quality of any other creek in the area. Here are some shots of one of the larger drops, Dead Snake Falls, this is a powerful drop that is all about the timing on your boof stroke.
Here is Hanes (IQ Media) getting the timing right on that stroke
This is a photo of Austin (video boater at ACE) on the same drop
