Webster Wildwater Weekend If you haven't been to Webster Springs WV for the Webster Wildwater Festival, make it a point. 2007 was my fourth year in attendance, and it just keeps getting better! This year's Festival included the Elk Downriver, and Slalom races, and the ever popular after party at Camp Caesar. Webster Springs is loaded with Class II-III whitewater on the Elk, and Back Fork of Elk rivers, and is in easy striking distance of Class III-IV water on the Williams, Cranberry, and Cherry Rivers. Every festival has its own unique identity, and Webster's delivers in Spades. Not only does it have great music, people, and whitewater, but there is an intimate sense of community at the festival that belongs to times past. The town residents sit in their backyards lining the banks of the Elk River waving and cheering the race participants. Restaurants stay open later, the festival has a campfire, and they pass the hat to keep the band playing well into the night. If you couldn't make it this year, be sure to come in 2008, you will be satisfied!
