Kayaking with a Twist!

Boating, Beer/Wine, & Music

Thursday, August 26

Add some culture to your life by attending this fun filled event! We’ll do a little kayaking, attend a Beer and Wine Tasting, have some food, and listen to some free live music on the pavilion at RiverScape!

Plan to launch from Whitewater Warehouse between 5:00-6:00 p.m. Paddle around at RiverScape between 5:00-6:30. At 6:30, it’s off to The Wine Gallery, (a nice winery / bistro located on the river) for a Beer/Wine Tasting. You can hang out at The Wine Gallery, or head over to RiverScape to listen to some big band / old time swing era music from 7:30-9:30. We’ll have two shuttles that will bring you back to the store (one at 8:30 and the other at 9:40, following the music). Walking back as a group is another option.

Kayak rental and shuttle will be $10 per person. If you have your own boat, the cost will be $5.00 (if you purchased your boat from Whitewater Warehouse the shuttle fee will be $1.00). At the Wine Gallery you will be able to choose from a ‘Special Menu’ where you can get two beverages and one menu item (salad, sandwich or pizza) for $10 (plus tax and gratuity).

You can obtain additional information by contacting Whitewater Warehouse at (937) 222-7020 or by e-mail at wwwh@erinet.com

Please email if you plan on attending, so that we can give the Wine Gallery an idea of how many tables to reserve.

Added Note: The Miami Conservancy District (MCD) is holding a dedication on the river at the same time as our trip. Ohio Department of Natural Resources will announce that the Great Miami, Stillwater, and Mad Rivers will be designated as State of Ohio Water Trails… which will be a good thing for the Dayton paddling community.

It would be nice if we had a contingency to paddle down the Mad River at the same time as their land-based dedication. They expect to have over 70 people attending. If you would like to be a part of that, you’ll need to launch from Whitewater Warehouse close to 5:15. I know that is early for many (with work and traffic)… just wanted to throw it out there in case you are interested.
