FRIDAY NITE KAYAK FISHING EVENT (6:00PM - 8:30PM)
You know how to fish… now try fishing from a kayak! Come to Eastwood Lake on Friday, July 11 and Friday, August 1 and fish out of some of the best kayak fishing boats on the market. Bring your gear and get ready for a fun, new and exciting experience on the water. For $10.00 we will provide the kayak, paddle and pfd. The event will run from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

WHITEWATER SKILLS COMBO (PART 1) (5:30PM - 8:00PM)
This is a three part instructional series for the beginning whitewater kayaker. The first two sessions will be held on the lake where you will be introduced to the skill of rolling a kayak, along with becoming acquainted with the necessary equipment, learning the basic strokes and concepts, along with a variety of safety topics. The third session in this series will be held on the moving water of the Mad River where you will learn to perform a variety of techniques such as eddy turns, peel outs, and ferry’s which will help you to deal with moving currents and water features.
Participants should meet at Whitewater Warehouse at 5:30 p.m.; and the classes will run from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Dress to be wet. Minimum of 3 participants required. Space is limited & reservations are required. Fee: $150; or $180 if you need equipment.

Get started with an advantage! This hands-on class will introduce you to the basic skills and information needed to begin kayaking in a safe and enjoyable way. During this two hour session you will become acquainted with the necessary equipment, learn the basic paddle strokes and concepts, along with a variety of safety topics. Participants should meet at Whitewater Warehouse at 5:30 p.m.; and the class will be held on the Lagoon in Eastwood MetroPark from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Dress to get wet. Minimum of 3 participants required. Space is limited & reservations are required. Fee: $50, includes equipment.

SAFETY SKILLS On The LAKE (5:15PM - 7:45PM)

What happens if I come out of my boat in the middle of the lake? During this fun filled, hands-on class you will discover the answer to that question and many more. You will practice how to re-enter a kayak after falling out in the lake, how to get a swamped boat to shore, how to self rescue, and what you can do to assist others in need. These are skills that should be practiced before you actually need them in an on the water situation. For Touring and Recreational boaters.

Participants should meet at Whitewater Warehouse at 5:15 p.m.; and the class will be held in the Eastwood MetroPark from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Dress to get wet. Minimum of 3 participants required. Space is limited & reservations are required. Fee: $40, an additional $10 if you need equipment.

The MetroPark Lake is off of Harshman Road near RT 4. We will be located in the of the park near the big parking lot.

Eastwood Lake is near Route 4 and Harshman Road. I-75 to Route 4 North. Go 2-3 miles and get off on Harshman Road. Turn Right into the Lake entrance. We will be set up about half way back, near the large parking area.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT FLOAT TRIP (5:00PM - 8:00PM)

Join us for a short paddle to RiverScape on Wednesday evening, August 20. You can put-in at Whitewater Warehouse and float to RiverScape in downtown Dayton where you will have the opportunity to view the exciting fountains from the river. You can launch between 6:00-7:00 p.m., paddle around at RiverScape for a while, and then either walk the bikeway or catch a shuttle ride back to Whitewater Warehouse.

You can bring your own boat, or rent equipment for $10. Shuttle from RiverScape back to Whitewater Warehouse will be $1.00 per person.

BASIC RIVERRUNNING (WEEKEND CLASS) (2:00PM - 5:00PM)

This is the most valuable class for the recreational boater to attend. Basic River Running will be moving water instruction that deals with controlling your kayak on the river. You will learn to perform a variety of maneuvers that will improve your paddling ability, promote confidence, and help you to identify and avoid hazards encountered on the river. The skills you learn during this class, you’ll use throughout your paddling career. Meet at Whitewater Warehouse at 2:00. The class will be held on the Mad River and runs from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Dress to get wet. Minimum of 3 participants required. Space is limited & reservations are required. Fee: $50, an additional $10 if you need equipment. Prerequisite: Kayak Basics or Equivalent.

SAFTEY SKILLS On The RIver (5:30PM - 8:30PM)

This is a hands-on class that you will learn and practice boat rescue, self rescue, swimmer rescue, and how to use a throw rope. These are skills that should be practiced before you actually need them. A very popular class, taught by Bernie Farley, for Whitewater and Recreational boaters.

Bring your boat, throw rope (if you have one), and come prepared to get wet.

A special price of $25 will be extended for this class. Pre-registration is required.

Kayak Rolling (5:15PM - 7:20PM)

Learn the skill of kayak rolling or fine tune your existing roll! Lessons will be personally structured based on your skill level. Reservations are required.

Fee: $40 for two 30 minute sessions; $60 for three 30 minute sessions; plus $10 if you need equipment. First timers should register for the three session class. Meet at Whitewater Warehouse at 5:15.
