Recreational Kayaking is a very user friendly type of kayaking. The boats used are generally wide and stable and are designed to track in a straight line. Recreational kayaking is very popular in this region.

Kayak Basics on March 12, 2009
Get started with an advantage! This hands-on class will introduce you to the basic skills and information needed to begin kayaking in a safe and enjoyable way. During this two hour pool session you will become acquainted with the necessary equipment, learn the basic paddle strokes and concepts, along with a variety of safety topics. Classes will be held at the Tecumseh YMCA, in New Carlisle from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Minimum of 4 participants required. Space is limited & reservations are required. Ages 15 and up. Fee: $45, includes equipment.

The Tecumseh YMCA is located at 100 S. Main St in New Carlise. It’s a straight shot from Dayton. Take Route 4 North, which changes to Route 235 North. The Tecumseh YMCA will be on your right. Travel time from Downtown Dayton is approximately 15 minutes.
