Join in on what has become a tradition for Dayton’s paddle sports community, the Wednesday Nite Paddle down our local waterway, the Mad River. Enjoy the transition from an urban wilderness to the downtown Dayton skyline.
We paddle approximately three miles of what is considered “moving water” from Eastwood MetroPark to the Keowee Street Bridge. This river trip generally takes 1 to 1 ˝ hours. Shuttles leave from Whitewater Warehouse at 5:30 and 6:15 (depending on daylight); with a separate private boater shuttle leaving when full. Equipment and shuttle slots are available on a first come first serve basis.
Dress to get wet, and be ready to have some Fun! Early in the season you can expect cooler water and air temperatures. Note: This is not a guided river trip.
New boaters may consider taking any of our three recreational kayaking classes prior to participating.
The Basic Kayak Skills will get you started; Basic River Running will teach you to deal with moving currents and controlling your boat; and the Safety Skills Class will teach you to deal with basic safety and self-rescue situations
