So, for the past month I have been paddling the Pyranha Molan (small).  After trying other playboats thatjosh_-_springfield_whitewater_park_-_resized.jpg are on the market I have discovered that there are many similarities and differences when comparing it to other current designs.  While surfing I found that the Molan is very fast due to its narrow hull design along with the tapered stern that helps to reduce friction to generate speed.  This in turn allows for the boat to release quickly to initiate molan.pngthe rails, and ends for wave and hole based maneuvers. The length of the boat also is something that I noticed right off the bat.  While on a wave or hole the boat comes around quickly when doing flat spins, cartwheels, and loops!  The Molan is initially stable when running rapids as long as you sit forward and keep your weight off the stern.  The side walls of the boat have a nice edge that allows for the paddler to set up perfectly for cartwheels feeling stable and ready for that next hot freestyle move. I do however find it somewhat cumbersome to initiate in flat water. I think this is due to volume distribution and the lack of slicey ends that were once so prominent in past designs.  The bulbous and somewhat bubble shaped stern seems to be hard to balance as does the bow.  Just like any other boat the more one practices, finding this fine point of balance will become easier.  The outfitting is typical of Pyranha boats. The new Molan comes equipped with Connect 30 outfitting.  The hip pads, back band, and thigh braces are easily adjusted to customize to the individual.  All in all, I am very pleased with the Molan.  I feel very confident in this boat and feel that it is going to help in my playboating progression.
